Hi, I’m HOLLY
I collect vinyl records—with my husband—and do a double-take when I hear the term "vinyls." What? I have two turntables but no microphone. We've been killing off the grass in the front yard over the past few years and filling those areas with native pollinator gardens. We still have a lot to learn. We're good with that. I recently discovered the #weirdgirlfiction trend on TikTok and have been stacking my "To Read" Goodreads list and poring over pages ever since. I co-helicopter parent my once-feral ginger tomcat, Merle, and have no shame about that. He's a good boy.
I'm on a mission to get eight hours of sleep nightly, even though I consistently only seem to score seven. I take my NYT games seriously and share my Wordle and Connections scores with two chat groups daily—for camaraderie, not competition. I like getting tinned tea and wellness/pampering gift certificates as gifts. I don't need anything else. Well, maybe more plants, and I'm never mad at jewelry. Since the world reopened, I've spent far too much money chasing laughter from fave comedians touring in beautiful old theatres. #worthit.
The Criterion Channel seems to be consistently streaming in our crib—a 1958 mid-century modern home we bought from the original owners who built it. Old houses are a lot of work. Despite no longer working in high fashion and having an intentionally repetitious, uniform-like personal style (oh, how I love stripes), I still love staying in the know about trends, creative directors at design houses, and clicking through fashion week recaps. I live for walking in the woods at the nature conservancies just seconds from my backyard. I don't save up my work vacation time for the holidays. Anymore. I take off as often as possible to let my eye and spirit wander, see a band, catch up with friends, and fill my cup. When invited to a potluck, I almost always take something from an Alison Roman cookbook. I don't do drama and live/work in a way that protects my peace.
I guess that's about the long and short of it as of today.
